There are many reasons why car engines overheat. It can be very hard to rectify the problem if you do not know what is causing the engine to over-heat. Here are some of the reasons that might lead to a car engine overheating.

A stuck thermostat is one of the causes of overheating in a cars engine. When the thermostat gets stuck when closed, it can block the efficiency of coolant in the engine, thus making it to overheat. You can also have an overheating engine if there is a leakage in the cooling system. This will make the engine to overheat since there will not be enough coolant to cool it down.

A faulty cooling fan can also result to an overheating engine. Another reason why a vehicles engine overheats is a water pump that is ineffective. The water is used to circulate coolant to the engine; therefore, if there is not enough of it to cool the engine, it is likely to overheat.
