Smalls scratches and blemishes are common when you are driving a car. However, you always want the car to look brand new as if it has been just driven out of the showroom. Hence, to get rid of the minor scratches, touch up paint works bets. While doing it yourself seems convenient, getting it done by an expert mechanic yields the best result. This is because they know their work better and one needs steady hand for the work.

Furthermore, when trying for touch up work, try to get the paint from the manufacturer’s dealer. This will provide you with the closest match for the paint on your car. If the work to be done involves small areas, then it is alright, else going to the professional workshop is better. The beginners and inexperienced may find it difficult to work with metallic paints as they tend to separate. Many try doing sanding after the work is done; it is not advisable unless the person has expertise in the field.

It not only gives a shine to the car but also protects the paint of the car for months. The products are generally wax based products containing polishes, cleaning agents and lubricants along with wax. However to get the best results out of the waterless car wash products, some points are to be remembered.

The cleaning has its best effect when done regularly which is once every month. The dirt, mud and sand that gets accumulated on the car needs to be cleaned before the formula or the product can be applied. It is best to use complete cotton or terry clothes to wipe the formula on the car after spraying is complete. Using clean microfiber clothes to clean off the extra product is advantageous. Further, the car need not be rubbed very vigorously with the product. When choosing the products, using a wax product that contains carnauba wax is the best.

Our pockets go empty due to some unwise maintenance of our car. Don’t worry; there are ways to tackle this problem. If you stick to the below mentioned rules, your car will run for an extra mile or two.

1.	Know the tire pressure of your car. It should be appropriate. It should not exceed the limit. Go through the manual that comes in with the pressure measures.
2.	May be this one will sound dumb but still please stay away from traffic. It kills your fuel at the rate of knots.
3.	Drive at a moderate speed. Neither very high nor very low.
4.	Frequently change your air filters and spark plugs.
5.	Keep an eye on the oxygen sensor. Go for a change if it conveys wrong information.
6.	Change your PCV valve if it is not working properly.
7.	Service your car once in a while

Do not loose your temper in such a situation. For an old car, radiator leak is quite common. Just keep your cool to bear with that extra amount of money that goes out of your pocket. However, there are solutions to prevent a radiator leak. Follow these simple rules to avoid that unavoidable circumstance.

1.	Locate where the leak is. You can wash it with garden hose. Restart the engine and look out for the leak.
2.	If the hose is leaking then replace it immediately.
3.	Cold weld epoxy can come to great effect to fix leaks. Make sure that you empty the leaky region, clean it then apply cold weld epoxy.
4.	You can open the distributor cap and then start the engine. This usually creates a bit vacuum as a result the epoxy gets sealed into the cracked radiator.

Did you know that your alarm system and automotive ties have something in common? The similarities between an alarm system and automotive tires are evident when you are buying them. The things that you consider when buying automotive tires are the same that you will consider when buying an alarm system.

For instance, you will have to consider safety when you are buying either of these items. High quality tires will not wear out fast and you can always rely on them for safety when you are driving. The same case goes with alarm systems. The higher the quality, the safer you will feel. High quality alarm systems also do not break down easily.

When looking for the perfect tires for your car, you are likely to buy from a reliable and credible dealer. This is the same case with alarm systems. The market is full of second-rate alarms; therefore the best place to buy your system from is from an authentic seller.

You do not have to spend lots of money everyday in fuel costs. You can save some money if you know how to maximize your fuel efficiency. Here are some useful tips to help you know how to do this.

You will need to know what mileage you are using. If you do not want to have dismal results every time you calculate your mileage, you should learn to drive slowly. Driving slowly will also help avoid unnecessary accidents. Not only should you drive slowly, you should also maintain a constant speed. If you can, make sure that you use cruise control while on the highway to save on gas.

Avoid aggressive driving such as rapid acceleration and hard braking as this will only require more gas than you can afford to waste. It is also important to avoid idling, stopping or driving in traffic if you can help it.

One of the most important parts of a vehicle is the cooler. This cooler is important as it is the one that makes it possible for you to drive without having o deal with an overheating problem. If you do not want to pull at the side of the road due to an overheated engine, you should flush your radiator and coolant system as often as required.

Before you flush your coolant and radiator, you should ensure that your car’s engine is cool. Operating on a hot radiator is dangerous as it might burn you. After you have ensured that your radiator is cool enough to touch, you should open its cap so as to relieve pressure that might have built up inside. Next, you shod drain the drain valve and close the drain valve. Install a back flush kit to flush the car’s system. Continue flushing until clean water comes from the kit’s diverter.

An interference engine is the engine that interferes with the car’s mechanism when timing belt is damaged. Interference engines can increase your repair bills in case something goes wrong in your car. The best way to ensure that you do not suffer losses due to any interference by an interference engine is to get a vehicle with perfect timing belts. When buying interference engines, here are a few things you should consider to enable you cut your repair costs.

You should avoid buying cars that have engines with over head cams. In all the cylinders, there are normally two cams which are connected to the timing belt by a gear or chain. The engine to avoid is the one whose cams are controlled by a common belt or chain to the crank shaft. These types of engines normally have very tight spaces which are used to produce compression enough to ignite a diesel engine’s fuel.

There are many reasons why car engines overheat. It can be very hard to rectify the problem if you do not know what is causing the engine to over-heat. Here are some of the reasons that might lead to a car engine overheating.

A stuck thermostat is one of the causes of overheating in a cars engine. When the thermostat gets stuck when closed, it can block the efficiency of coolant in the engine, thus making it to overheat. You can also have an overheating engine if there is a leakage in the cooling system. This will make the engine to overheat since there will not be enough coolant to cool it down.

A faulty cooling fan can also result to an overheating engine. Another reason why a vehicles engine overheats is a water pump that is ineffective. The water is used to circulate coolant to the engine; therefore, if there is not enough of it to cool the engine, it is likely to overheat.

Have you ever tried to start your car on a cold morning and it refused to start? If you do not want to experience this again, there are a few things that you can do to prevent your car engine from stalling.

During the cold season, you should avoid parking your car out in the cold as this will affect the engine. Instead you should park it in a garage which is properly ventilated to keep away the cold. When you keep your car in a warm and properly sheltered garage, you will not have to deal with any morning frustrations trying to start up an engine that is dead.

You can also prevent your engine from dying by spraying it with ether. This will help the petrol in the engine quickly so that the car can start without a problem. Using synthetic oil will also prevent your engine from dying in the morning.
